Product Description
MKN-hBN-070 is a 99% pure hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) nanopowder with an average particle size of 70 nm, a specific surface area of 19.4 m²/g SSA, 0.30 g/cm³ bulk density and 2.25 g/cm³ true density. It is intended for industrial and laboratory evaluation where nanoscale hBN is required for lubrication, thermal management, electrical insulation, coating or materials-formulation research.
Available pack sizes: 1 lb, 5 lbs and 10 lbs.

Technical Specifications
Technical note: The product source currently says the 70 nm APS is derived from SSA. APS is average particle size and should not be interpreted as a measured D50, a particle-size range or a complete particle-size distribution. The above SSA, bulk density and true density are published specifications for MKN-hBN-070 on the current product page.

Safety, Handling and Storage
Store hexagonal boron nitride nanopowder in a tightly closed container in a dry and well-ventilated place. Do not generate dust. Keep away from moisture. Where dust may be generated, adequate exhaust ventilation shall be provided.
Wear appropriate gloves and approved eye protection. Respiratory protection is not normally required. Where protection from nuisance dust is desired a suitable N95 (US) or P1 (EN 143) dust mask should be used.
The common MK-hBN-xxx SDS states: “Not WHMIS controlled. Not classified as a dangerous substance or mixture according to GHS.” It also says inhalation may be harmful and may irritate the respiratory tract; skin and eye irritation are possible and ingestion may be harmful. Refer to SDS and relevant workplace procedures before use.
The material is stable under the recommended storage conditions. Keep away from moisture and strong oxidizing agents.
Transport
The current SDS lists hexagonal boron nitride powder as “Not dangerous goods” under DOT, IMDG and IATA transport classifications. This transport classification should not be interpreted as meaning that no handling precautions are required.
Frequently Asked Questions
APS means average particle size. The current product source states an APS of 70 nm and specifies that this value is determined from SSA. It should not be interpreted as a measured D50, particle-size range or complete particle-size distribution.
MKN-hBN-070 is listed with a 99% purity in the current product specification.
The current product specification lists a specific surface area (SSA) of 19.4 m²/g for MKN-hBN-070.
The current product specification lists a bulk density of 0.30 g/cm³ and a true density of 2.25 g/cm³.
The material may be evaluated for lubricant formulations, dry-film coatings, thermal-management compounds, electrical-insulation materials, polymer or ceramic filler systems, mold-release formulations and related industrial or laboratory research. Final suitability should be verified under the intended operating conditions.
Keep the container tightly closed in a dry, well-ventilated location and protect it from moisture. Avoid dust formation, use appropriate local ventilation, and use suitable gloves and eye protection in accordance with the SDS.
The current SDS lists hexagonal boron nitride powder as not a dangerous good under DOT, IMDG, and IATA. This is a transport classification and does not remove the need to follow the SDS handling precautions.
