    300,000 psi is for a coated film, not loose nanomaterial powder. Actual performance will depend on substrate, surface preparation, dispersion, application method and operating conditions.

    The 0.5 micron coating-film thickness listed in the brochure is not to be considered a specification for this product as it is for a coating application and could be confused with the 90 nm particle-size specification.

    Safety, Handling and Storage

    Store tungsten disulfide nanopowder in the original container, tightly closed, in a dry and well-ventilated place. Do not get in the skin and eyes and do not generate dust or aerosols. Provide adequate ventilation where airborne powder may be created.

    When handling the powder, wear appropriate personal protective equipment including appropriate gloves and safety glasses with side shields. Choose respiratory protection suitable for exposure conditions and applicable workplace requirements.

    The SDS classifies tungsten disulfide as:

    • Skin irritation – Category 2
    • Serious eye irritation – Category 2A
    • Specific target organ toxicity, single exposure – Category 3 (respiratory system)

    The SDS uses the signal word WARNING and states:

    • Causes skin irritation.
    • Causes serious eye irritation.
    • May cause respiratory irritation.
    • Avoid breathing dust, fumes, gas, mist, vapours or spray.
    • The material is stable under recommended storage conditions. Avoid contact with strong acids and strong oxidizing agents.

    Transport

    The current SDS lists tungsten disulfide powder as “Not dangerous goods” under DOT, IMDG and IATA. This transport classification should not be interpreted as meaning that the powder requires no handling precautions.
