    MK-MoS2-45 is a molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) powder with an average particle size of about 4.5 micron (technical fine grade) and a purity of 98.5%+. It is available for industrial and laboratory testing as a dry/solid lubricant and lubricant additive – in greases, oils, polymers, paints and coatings, as well as high-load applications and vacuum-related lubrication.

    These are generic MoS2 product-family reference values from the brochure, not batch-specific test results for MK-MoS2-45. Performance in service depends on formulation, environment, substrate, load and operating conditions.

    Safety, Handling and Storage

    Store MoS2 powder in a tightly closed container in a dry, well-ventilated place. Do not let it get into the eyes or on the skin, and avoid dust or aerosol formation. Provide adequate ventilation where dust is generated, and use appropriate gloves and eye protection when handling.

    The standard MK-MoS2-xxx / MKN-MoS2-xxx SDS classifies molybdenum disulfide as Acute Toxicity (Inhalation), Category 4, with hazard statement H332: Harmful if inhaled. Possible irritation of the respiratory tract, skin and eyes is also noted. DOT, IMDG and IATA transport status is listed as not dangerous goods. Read the SDS before use.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    What does ~4.5 micron APS mean?

    APS stands for average particle size. MK-MoS2-45 is listed at around 4.5 micron APS (technical fine grade), which is not the same as a complete particle-size distribution.

    What applications can MK-MoS2-45 be evaluated for?

    It may be evaluated for dry lubrication and as an additive in greases, oils, polymers, paints and coatings, including selected high-load, metal-forming and vacuum applications.

    Is MoS2 suitable for high-load and vacuum lubrication?

    The product-family brochure lists load-bearing ability up to 250,000 psi and good lubricity under high vacuum. Performance should still be validated for the intended application.
